Safety in the Laboratory

Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) or Sicherheitsdatenblätter (SDB) or Fichas de Datos de Seguridad (FDS) or Fiches de Données de Sécurité (FDS) contain safety instructions for using hazardous substances. Usually they follow this model:

01. Name of the substance or mixture
02. Hazards identification
03. Composition
04. First Aid measures
05. Fire fighting measures
06. Accidental release measures
07. Handling and storage
08. Exposure controls and personal protection
09. Physical and chemical properties
10. Stability and reactivity
11. Toxicological information
12. Ecological information
13. Disposal considerations
14. Transport information
15. Regulatory information (R- & S-phrases)
16. Other information

From this page you can download the MSDS of reagents present in the Cell Biology Laboratory (CBL). It is recommended also proof at the authors web pages, if these MSDS are still actual.
- Listing of International Chemical Safety Cards of the International Occupational Safety and Health Information Centre (CIS).
- Listing of International Chemical Safety Cards of the European Union (ICSCs).
- Meta-crawler to search for different MSDS (also in differents languages) is the euSDB - (Universität Mainz).

You can find here also MSDS for not hazardous substances, for special reagents used in molecular biology or cell culture.
